Mortal Kombat Series

While reviewing a lot of my social media, and with the new release of Mortal Kombat 11 happening, I decided to revisit some of my older looks that I created back in 2013. Mortal Kombat makeup has a long history with me, including a lengthy story that I may add here someday. For right now, I am just starting up the blog again, and to be honest, my nails are extremely long and sliding off my keyboard. It's what it's, am I right?

Here is a comparison of my two looks from 2013 and 2019.

Both 2019 Scorpion and 2019 Sub-Zero inspired looks were body painted live on www.twitch.tv/madeyewlook

(Twitch is a free live streaming platform. Just tap the heart on the link to follow me)

2019 Scorpion was body painted live on Twitch. This look took me about 4-5 hours with yapping, chatting, and messing around on a live stream. I decided to go with only one half being the more masculine, accurate character due to the fact that back in the day I incorporated the beauty aspect horizontally vs. vertically. I thought it would be a nice throwback and tribute to the original makeup look I cooked up in 2013, while also showing off my improved skill of practice over the years. Man, looking back on 2013 is like looking into a different world. I am so happy with my progress as a painter, and cannot wait to see where my skills improve years from where I am now.

2013 Scorpion may have actually had a YouTube video back in the day. I cannot remember if it did or not, but I do remember originally posting this look on Facebook. Man, did this look accidentally cause a lot of drama with another artist. Back in the day, I was caught in the crosshairs of another artist thinking that I copied her work, when I wasn't even aware of who she was, and I used.. well.. the character itself as reference. Imagine being so catty, that you think you must be the only reference of a character that you didn't create. Yikes. Needless to say, I handled the situation as calmly and politely as possible, and it eventually went away. (Man, people can be nuts!)

2013 Sub-Zero painted on my own without a tutorial or demonstration on the internet (I don't think). I can't remember how long this took me, but I do actually still enjoy this look. With both MK looks from 2013, I remember being so proud of the illusion, and although there are differences in improvement in sections on Sub-Zero, they are also done as two different styles - one being beauty, and the other a more masculine/character accuracy body paint.

2019 Sub-Zero body painted live on Twitch. This look took me about 3 hours with chit chatting and all of my usual streaming nonsense. I love having the ability to chill, add details, and chat live while I am painting. In "business terms" it would be said it's a "more interactive experience," but in reality, I just love having my stream team there.

We also completed Mortal Kombat 11 story mode while painted as Sub-Zero, which looked sick by the way (see below). The final boss was a living nightmare, and took me 5-6 tries on "medium," but overall I absolutely loved the story and the graphics were incredible. (Highly graphic/violent game, not recommended for kiddos at all)

That's all for right now of my Mortal Kombat series as I write this post, but there may be more looks in the future! While I do have my eyeball on a D'Vorah paint (possibly), I also did paint Mileena and Reptile back in 2013 into makeups and would also love to see my comparison of those two characters in 2019 form. We shall see! Chances are, these will remain Twitch streams, so if you are interested in seeing more MK looks, please be sure to follow me on there! Also wanted to say thank you to everyone who tagged @wbgames on these posts on social media. I would really love to work with them one day on a sponsored post or video!
